Due to another particularly wet week in Swansea, the U12 Regional Tournament was unable to reach a suitable conclusion.  We were very lucky to play all 5 fixtures on the Monday (19th July) but then suffered torrential downpours on Tuesday with all matches cancelled.  Although we lost 3 venues to wet ground conditions on the Wednesday, we were very fortunate to play 4 fixtures , with some grounds "doubling up" matches with 20/20 games.  The Tournament did continue into Thursday Morning, but due to more heavy showers, we lost 3 out of the remaining 4 venues to rain - but miraculously leaving Clydach CC fairly rain free to host two 20/20 fixtures, incuding a re-arranged shortened Final.  Although the first 20/20 fixture was completed, more heavy showers followed and the Final was rained off!

 

It is hoped that Gwent and Mid-Glamorgan will re-arrange a date to play the final somewhere in Gwent later this summer.

 

I would like to thank all Regions for their imeasurable patience in a difficult week - a positive approach was clearly evident and I am sure all players appreciated the efforts of those Coaches/Managers involved - they will forever remember their week in Swansea!  A particular thank-you must go to the umpires for also being patient with their availability - but most of all to the match venues for working so hard to put matches on in intolerable circumstances - matches were even re-scheduled last minute in Cardiff and Newport.
