General
responsibilities:
|
To
provide leadership and direction to the Cricket Board of Wales
To
direct, plan, manage and finance the objectives of the Cricket Board of
Wales
|
Background
The
Cricket Board of Wales (CBW) is jointly established by Glamorgan County
Cricket
Club and the Welsh Cricket Association, with representation from Wales
Minor Counties
and the Welsh
Schools Cricket Association. Its overall aim is to plan, manage and
finance the
development of cricket throughout Wales
by implementing co-ordinated
development programmes.
The
objectives of the CBW are to:

support
the development of junior and youth cricket (male and female) in
schools and clubs;
|
|
2
|
provide
opportunities for young people to play cricket;
|
|
3
|
implement
programmes of coach education, employment and deployment;
|
|
4
|
develop
and implement a performance and excellence programme for young
cricketers in Wales;
|
|
5
|
support
the development of cricket for people with disabilities;
|
|
6
|
help
with the coordination of organisations involved in cricket and, by
doing so, encourage the best use of resources and facilities;
|
|
7
|
develop
appropriate partnerships with other interested organisations, for
example, local authorities;
|
|
8
|
support
the development of cricket pitches and facilities;
|
|
9
|
raise
and manage the finance necessary for successful cricket development;
|
|
10
|
foster
a close relationship between the recreational and first class games.
|
Scope
of the Job
The
post holder will need a proven track record within a management role
and must
also have a thorough knowledge of the CBW’s strategy for the
development of
cricket at all levels. The post holder will need an understanding of
the
differences in approach necessary to achieving the CBW’s
strategy in the
different Welsh regions.

to degree level with appropriate academic qualifications or equivalent
demonstrable experience

knowledge and experience gained from working in sport (preferably
cricket)

Specific
Responsibilities
|
1
|
To
implement current and devise future long term strategies for cricket
development in Wales
and to draft annual development plans with the Board’s
agreement and to manage their implementation on behalf of the Board.
|
|
2
|
To
raise and manage the financing of plans.
|
|
3
|
To
manage coaching, development and administrative staff employed by the
Board, ensuring adequate work programmes and reports are in place.
|
|
4
|
To
establish and work with partners (e.g. local authorities and clubs)
with a view to developing coordinated local programmes at a local level.
|
|
5
|
To
inform and communicate, via appropriate methods, up to date information
to partners in cricket.
|
|
6
|
To
work closely with all CBW member organisations and to liaise and work
with the Coaching Associations, Umpires Associations and Leagues.
|
|
7
|
To
support the Regional Junior Development Committees and Coaching
Associations in the development of their plans and their submission to
CBW and other potential funding organisations.
|
|
8
|
To
develop and implement a performance and excellence programme for junior
cricketers (male and female) throughout Wales, liaising and
linking seamlessly with the Glamorgan Academy.
|
|
9
|
To
oversee the player development pathway from club to Wales
level, ensuring that an appropriate competition and participation
structure is in place.
|
|
10
|
To
manage budgets and attend to day to day finances in conjunction with
the CBW administrator and the CBW Treasurer.
|
|
11
|
To
attend management meetings of the Board and provide reports which
clearly identify progress against specific targets.
|
|
12
|
To
ensure that appropriate CBW and ECB policies are implemented.
|
|
|
|
The above list is neither

responsibilities, commensurate with the grade, which the post holder
may be required to perform in the implementation of CBW policies

Hours
of Work
Normal
hours of work are 37 hours per week; however, on frequent occasions it
will be
necessary for additional hours to be worked which may be in the
evenings, on
weekends or during holiday periods. An allowance for this is included
within
the salary and the post holder will not be entitled to additional
payments.
