COACH EDUCATION PROGRAMME2009/2010The Cricket Board of Wales recognises that Coach Education plays a pivotal role in the overall development of cricket within the country and will run various courses throughout the winter months of 2009/10 to expand and improve its existing coaching base (application form). Level 1 Certificate in Coaching Cricket
ECB
Coaching Assistant
These courses (12 hours + assessment) will help you to assist more qualified coaches, delivering aspects of coaching sessions, normally under direct supervision. This may include running warm ups / cool downs, small sided games and small group work. The target audience for this course is:
ECB Level 1 to Coach Award Conversion Course
The ECB Conversion course is designed for coaches wanting to update their existing ECB Level I qualification to the ECB Coach (UKCC2) qualification. By attending the conversion course, coaches will have an opportunity to receive the latest developments relevant to their coaching. A major focus of the updated ECB courses is the importance of balancing the technical aspects (what to coach) with the way in which coaches are able to deliver that message (how to coach) with the ultimate aim of ensuring that players learn. courses will require attendance or evidence of attendance on a Good
Parctice
Child Protection course and a minimum 3 hour First aid course as well
as the
enhanced CRB check. ECB Coach The role of the ECB Coach Award holder is to be able to “Prepare for, deliver and review coaching sessions”. This course (24 hours + 10 sessions of supervised coaching + assessment) will help you to be able to:
The target audience for this course is people who have gained the Level 1 Certificate in Coaching Cricket and have previous experience of playing / coaching cricket. Both courses will require attendance or evidence of attendance on a Good Practice Child Protection course and a minimum 3 hour First aid course as well as the enhanced CRB check. Coach Development Workshops

addition to the certified courses the Cricket Board will be
running Coach Development Workshops for those
coaches who wish to develop their own coaching skills and prepare for
the ECB
Club Coach award or Level 3

Other coaching related issues: Each winter sees a busy picture of coaching for Welsh Squads at the National Development Centres at Neath, Llandrindod Wells, Newport, Cardiff and Towyn. At regional level coaching programmes are run for U11-U15 youth squads. Coaching Associations run 'open' Dragon skills award programmes, for which any WCA affiliated club can apply to the CBW for a Dragon awards starter pack. Hopefully this will encourage more clubs to run comprehensive coaching courses and stimulate coaches by offering a ready-made series of coaching activities as well as providing a certificate for children to aim for!
